A Friendly Reminder: Get out of your way and show your work 

Hey there, friends – Jess here. 

Yesterday, we met with our business coach, Sara Clark-Williams of Fab Fempreneurs, and she brought something up.

As creatives, we are in a beautiful position to show our work efficiently. And if you think about it, other folks in different industries don’t have the privilege to do that. 

So she asked us, especially me: 

“Why don’t you show your work?” 

And I replied, “Because they’re older projects, and people have already seen them.” 

But that isn’t true. 

I was reminded that not EVERYONE has seen your work. How many people have you connected with in real life and online since you first posted that one old project from a couple of years ago?? LOTS! 

So what the fuck was stopping me? My insecurities and that false idea that I am not worthy enough. I realized I was getting in my goddamn way. I am proud of my work. I worked hard on those projects and put so much time and energy into them. So, WTF, mate? 

So moving forward, show your fucking work and repurpose all the fantastic shit you created. 

And in the wise words of my good friend, Revekka Balancier of Axiom of Purpose, “Don’t tell me. Show me.”
